Kerns now 10th at Ohio Amateur

WILLOUGHBY — Nathan Kerns just won’t go away.

After shooting an even par 71 on Tuesday, Kerns had a 74 on Wednesday but still made the cut at the 104th Ohio Amateur golf tournament held at the Kirkland Country Club.

The former Ironton All-Ohio golfer and a sophomore on the Marshall University golf team stayed in contention as he finished with a 145 two-day total, 11 strokes off the pace.

Lawyer and former University of Akron golfer Bill Williamson remained the leader. He shot a 68 after carding a 66 on the first day.

Ironton’s Tony Brown had a solid performance but just missed making the cut by one stroke. After struggling with a 78 on Tuesday, Brown had a 73 for a 151 total.

The third round will be Thursday with the best 40 scores making the final cut going into Friday’s final round.
