WHEELERSBURG — William Darryl Hewitt, 42, of Wheelersburg, passed away Wednesday July 14, 2010, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. The Lawrence County native was born July 21, 1967, the son of George Timothy Hewitt and Donna Payton Knipp.
Mr. Hewitt graduated in 1985 from Rock Hill High School. He was in the United States Army during Desert Storm where he served in the 101st Airborne. He worked for more than 16 years as a correctional officer at Ross Correctional Institution. He also attended Lorain Street Gospel Missionary Church,
He is preceded in death by sister, Cindy K. Bostick; grandparents, William and Daisey Payton; grandfather, Frank Hewitt; and grandmother, Betty Cutlip Hewitt.
In addition to his parents he is survived by daughter, Leah Grace Hewitt of Wheelersburg;
stepfather, David Knipp of Kitts Hill; stepmother, Gayle Hewitt of Proctorville; two stepsisters, Regina and Edie Henn of Germany and Toni Wood of Proctorville; four step brothers, Ronald C Knipp of Maryland, Thomas W Knipp of Irvin, Texas, Robert G Knipp of Pedro and Sean Maynard of Proctorville; a special cousin, John Paul Pemberton of Ironton; a nephew, Dustin Michael William Bostick of Flatwoods, Ky.; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, at Phillips Funeral Home, with Brother John Pemberton and Brother Jack Pemberton officiating. Burial and military rites will follow at Aid Cemetery.
