Ladies 9-Hole battles rain

PINE GROVE — Not even the rain could completely stop the Ladies Nine-Hole Golf Association of the Ironton Country Club from its weekly Tuesday outing.

The group met in the clubhouse to start the day with hostess Wanda Spears serving refreshments and announced the day’s events.

Rain controlled the day and sent the golfers for shelter where they spent time socializing, but the ringer and handicap tournament continued to be played.

Hostess for this week will be Pat Lambert.

Two weeks ago, Kathy Fraley assumed hostess duties and announced the event winners for the day: Nancy Livingston, Sharon Cox, Spears and Fraley.

New members are still being welcomed to the club. Former members are welcomed to return to socialize even though they are unable to golf at this time.

Tuesday meetings are at 9 a.m. followed by golf at 9:30.
