OUS to host concert series and open house

A concert series at Ohio University Southern will round out the summer with live music and a block party.
The first of two concerts will be on Friday, July 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the Ohio University Southern Riffe Center Mains Rotunda.
The concert will feature jazz vocalist Kim Keffer. A veteran performer on the OUS stage, Keffer’s current show includes songs by such great American composers as George and Ira Gershwin, Rodgers and Hart, Thelonius Monk, and many others from the Great American Songbook.
A native of Boyd County, Ky., Keffer has performed at many local venues, including the Paramount Arts Center as the headliner for the annual Jazzed for a Cure concert to benefit the American Cancer Society.
The second concert in the series will be on Friday, Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. in the Ohio University Southern Riffe Center Mains Rotunda as well. This concert will feature country artist Bridget Reynolds.
Reynolds is well known in the local music scene having performed at local radio stations, festivals, fairs, Opry Jamboree and Opry Houses throughout the Tri-State area.
In addition, Reynolds has performed in Nashville at Nashville Palace, Listening Room Café-Stage 101 and the Wildhorse Saloon. She has opened for such performers as Loretta Lynn, George Jones, and Julianne Hough.
The block party and open house on Friday, Aug. 13 will conclude the events. It will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Shaffer Courtyard at Ohio University Southern.
The event will include food, entertainment, games, and door prizes. In addition, guests will have the opportunity to tour the campus, receive information on degree choices, and have financial aid questions answered.
The events are free and open to the public.
