Carroll M. “Jake” Deer, 72, of Ironton died Saturday, July 31, 2010. He was born Dec. 20, 1937. He was the son of the late Fred E. and Alberta McClellen Deer. He was the husband of Joyce Ann West Deer. He was a past master of the Waterloo Lodge #532 and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a retired maintenance foreman from Dow Chemical.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Bessie Deer, and two brothers, Fred Deer Jr. and Frank Deer. He is survived by his wife Joyce and three sons, Randall Deer of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Bryan Deer of Ironton and Brent E. Deer of Flatwoods, Ky.; six grandchildren and two brothers, Gerald H. Deer of Ironton and Patrick D. Deer of Grove City.
There will be a graveside service Tuesday at noon at Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 9 to 11:30 a.m. at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Lawrence County Open Door School.
