One injured in Route 93 accident

One person was injured in a car accident on State Route 93 in Ironton Saturday night.

The accident happened around 10:12 p.m., just past the one-mile marker of Route 93.

A car was headed out of Ironton when the car in front of it stopped to make a turn, causing the trailing car to strike it, said Chief Jeff Scott of the Upper Township Volunteer Fire Department.

After striking the vehicle, the driver lost control of the car and went off the road. The driver was lifeflighted to Cabell Huntington Hospital.

The name of the victim and the extent of the injuries were unavailable as of press time.

The driver of the second car fled the scene of the accident, Scott said.

The Coal Grove Volunteer Fire Department and Ohio State Highway Patrol also responded to the accident.
