Another school year is getting ready to start and the Ironton Tiger Clan is excited about another great year for our student athletes at Ironton High School.

The 2009-2010 school year was an exceptional year for our kids and we are expecting another banner year this year.

Did you know that in 2009-2010 Ironton’s golf team qualified for the state tournament for an 11th time in school history?

Last season also saw our Cross Country team win a district title and qualify for the Regional tournament. That same team sent a member to the state meet.

Our football team enjoyed great success, as they made it to the regional finals and celebrated Coach Lutz becoming the winningest football coach in OHSAA history.

In the winter months, the Fighting Tiger girl’s basketball program won a regional title and played in the final 4 in Columbus.

Our boy’s basketball program was regional finalist in basketball. In the spring our track team enjoyed much success as they sent multiple qualifiers to the State Track meet.

The 2010-2011 year is upon us and the Ironton Tiger Clan has already budgeted over $8,000 in support of all of our sports programs.

Last year, thanks to our loyal boosters and Patrons, we were able to give over $20,000 in support of our student athletes.

We were also able to give $7,500 in scholarships to our senior student athletes. There is no way we could do this without the support of all of the Fighting Tiger community!

Currently the Ironton Tiger Clan is holding a raffle for two Ohio State-Ohio University football tickets, for the game played in Ohio Stadium on September 18th.

We are also giving away a $50 gas card with the tickets. Please help us continue to help our Fighting Tiger student athletes. Tickets chances are $5 each or 3 for $10.

You can get your tickets by calling me at 533-7000 or Greg Klaiber at 646-0100.

The 2010-2011 school year is going to be very exciting. Come on out and support our student athletes. You will be impressed and you will really enjoy their Fighting Tiger spirit. Go Fighting Tigers!
