Ironton golfers fall at Greenup by 3 shots

LLOYD, Ky. — Tough team, tough course, tough match.
The Ironton Fighting Tigers hooked up against the Greenup County Musketeers Monday at River Bend Golf Course in a tightly contested golf match.
Greenup took advantage of their home course to edge Ironton by three strokes, 158 to 161.
Ironton was led by Josh Zornes with a 2-over par 38 to finish as the runner-up in the battle for medalist honors.
The Fighting Tigers’ Josh Cooke was two shots back at 40, Jonathan Williams carded a 41 and Josh Mullins had a 42. Also playing for Ironton were Mason Weisgarber with a 44 and Andy Holtzapfel with a 48.
Ironton (30-3) is at Elliott County, Ky., Tuesday and hosts Chesapeake, South Point and West Union in a quad match at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
