PROCTORVILLE — It’s just another way to honor those who protect our freedom, whether in the Iraqi-Afghan war or in wars past.

That’s one of the reasons those at WesBanco in Proctorville are asking those who have served in any branch of the armed services to bring in a photograph of them in uniform.

The photos will be turned into a collage focusing on the service men and women in the area and will be a backdrop for the upcoming Sept. 11 ceremony.

“We are taking pictures of any service man and woman and will do a big wall in the bank,” Devinh Gibson of WesBanco. “We have a lot of customers in the military and we thought this would be good.”

This will be the second year for the Proctorville bank to remember those who died in the Sept. 11 tragedy in New York City, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania.

To be able to add this service wall to the ceremony, Gibson is asking for the photographs as soon as possible.

“They will get their pictures back and on the big wall they will be protected,” Gibson said.

This year’s ceremony will be mid morning Friday, Sept 10, at the bank’s parking lot with a catered lunch, prayers and singing. Also on display will be the dress uniforms from all branches.

Those wishing to contribute a photograph can do so by bringing it to the bank at 307 State St.

The event is open to the entire community.
