SOUTH POINT — Ruth Dickess Joseph Fitzpatrick, 83, of South Point, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, at Kingsbrook Life Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Kitts Hill native was born May 7, 1927, the daughter of the late Henry Pearl Dickess and Louise Webb Dickess Hankins.
Mrs. Fitzpatrick was a graduate of Kitts Hill High School and a homemaker. She was a former employee with Wilson’s Sporting Goods, where she made ball gloves. She was also a former cook for South Point School and a door greeter at Walmart in South Point. She attended Sheridan Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, William Lee Fitzpatrick Jr.; a daughter, Sharon Kay Cochran; and two sisters, Ina Lewis and Faye Reaper.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Glendon and Beth Fitzpatrick and Charles David Fitzpatrick, all of South Point; grandchildren, Cathy Cooper and her, husband Neil of Franklin Furnace, Glenny Fitzpatrick of Columbus, Timothy Fitzpatrick and his wife, Ashley of Chesapeake, and Brandy Nicholle McKnight and her husband, Bobby, and Shawn Haney and Tonya Cordle, all of South Point; great grandchildren, Adam Cooper and Katlin Cooper, both of Franklin Furnace, Jonah David Fitzpatrick of Chesapeake, Autumn Rain McKnight of South Point and Aidan Fry of Chesapeake; and brother, Curt Dickess of Turkey Fork.
Funeral services will be 11a.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home with Dr. Dennis Hankins officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens and friends may call today from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
