JOPPA, Md. – Roscoe Allen Thompson, 94, of Joppa, Md., died August 17, 2010 at Saint Joseph Medical Center in Townson, Md. He was born May 11, 1916 in Stockdale, Ohio, the son of the late John Russell Thompson and Nancy Kathren Berry Thompson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Jane Thompson. He is survived by a son, Curtis Faulkner of Franklin Furnace; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Jack Conway of Joppa, Md., a sister, Alka Welch of Stockdale, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was a private in the US Army during World War II and was a cab driver for Yellow Cab in Ashland. Mr. Thompson was a lifetime member of the V.F.W., a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #76, a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Coutie Club.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday August 24 at Lazear Funeral Home Chapel with military rites by Ceredo-Kenova American Legion Post #93. Burial will follow at Ashland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at Lazear Funeral Home.
