Join the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce and Rumpke Waste and Recycling for a “Clean and Green Evening.”

As a part of the chamber’s quarterly business after-hours meetings, Rumpke will host the next event on Sept. 9.

Bob Smith, Director for the chamber, said that all members of the chamber are invited as well as the general public.

“It’s a good networking event,” said Smith, who started the after-hours meetings about a year and a half ago. “They’ve been very successful.”

Previous events have been held at WesBanco, Ohio University in Proctorville and MSC Industrial Supply.

The event will be held at the Rumpke recycling center.

“The event is a networking opportunity for its members,” said Jonathan Kissell, Senior Communication Coordinator for Rumpke.

Event goers will be able to see the facility first hand.

“We are offering tours of the recycle center and transfer station.” said Kissell.

Kissell said that guests would be able to see what kind of recycling services are available for their businesses or residential areas.

Kissell also said that the Rumpke trucks would be on display and refreshments would be served.

In fact, keeping with the “green” theme, the food will be served on Frisbees, instead of paper plates. After the event, the Frisbees will be cleaned returned as door prizes.

Bottled water and canned soda will also be provided by the local Pepsi Company and recycled on-site. Guests at the event will also receive a canvas grocery bag.

“We’re making the event an environmental event,” said Kissell.

“Rumpke has been a long-time member of the Chamber of Commerce,” said Smith. “This gives us a chance to recognize Rumpke.”

Smith also said that the chamber would be presenting Rumpke with a plaque.

The event will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Rumpke Waste and Recycling center on Thursday, Sept. 9. The center is located on 1533 County Road 1A off US 52.
