Flyers rout Greenup in home opener

The St. Joseph Flyers returned home and got the same results as they did on the road.

After opening with a win at New Boston on Tuesday, the Flyers began their home schedule Thursday with a 10-1 romp over the Greenup County (Ky.) Musketeers.

“Again we had a good team effort,” said Flyers’ coach Dan Blair.

The team effort was evident with eight assists on their 10 goals. Tanner Riley led the Flyers with four assists to go along with two goals.

Other assists were provided by Levi Hopkins, Eli Lewis, Payton Blair and Nick Roach.

Offensively, Blair and Joseph Payton scored three goals each for the Flyers. Also scoring a goal were Cody Blackburn and Roach.

Goal keeper Justin Mahlmeister turned in a big game defensively with nine saves.

St. Joseph (2-0) hosts Alexander at noon on Saturday.
