Fairland wins team title at Pickerington XC meet

PICKERINGTON — The Fairland Dragons came up big in a big meet.

Running in the Tiger Division of the Pickerington Cross Country Meet, Fairland had 67 points to place first in the 15-team field.

“The boys ran extremely well,” said Fairland coach Chuck Wentz. “The girls ran well but they were up against a lot of Division I schools.”

Tanner Mattie placed second overall with a 16:38 time to lead Fairland.

Raine Wireman’s 17:46 time was seventh, Logan Rowe was No. 12 at 18:09, Ryan Stewart ran an 18:22 to place 18th, Chad McComas ran a 19:13, Dylan Hannon a 19:59 and Ian Beatty had a 20:04 time.

The Ironton Fighting Tigers ran against the Division I and II schools in the Panther Division and placed 11th out of 19 teams.

Gary Monroe was No. 15 overall in the individual standings with a 17:04 time. Pierce Reeves was No. 23 with a 17:25 time.

Adam Stumbo ran an 18:33 followed by Dustin Moritz at 19:21, Levi Runyon 19:32, Tyler Lawless 21:33 and Korey Kellogg had a 21:33 clocking.

In the girls’ meet, both Ironton and Fairland ran in the Tiger Division. The Lady Dragons were 13th out of 24 teams and Ironton placed 17th.

Ironton’s Taylor Hacker was 11th overall with a 20:59 time. Ariel Schweickart ran a 22:49 and was no. 46 overall.

Kaylie Sturgill ran 25:54, Hannah Cronacher a 29:05, Katie Barron 27:34 and Alisa Schaus 30:01.

Sydney Petit led Fairland as she ran a 22:59 to place No. 51 while Megan Ashton was two spots back at 23:03.

Tori Hutchison ran a 23:36, Mariah Chaffin 23:49, Kennon Clarkson 24:34, Carrie Tanner 25:00, Savannah Nelson 27:31 and Kendal Hotmer had a 28:20 time.
