KITTS HILL — Mae Reed Delong, 83, of Kitts Hill, passed away Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. The Cabell County, W. Va., native was born Aug. 21, 1927, the daughter of the late Frank and Emma L. Kirby Morrison. She was also preceded in death by her first and second husband, Howard Reed who passed away Dec. 21, 1960, and Isaac W. Delong who passed away Dec. 7, 2004.
Mrs. Delong was a homemaker, and was of the Baptist faith and lived most of her life in the Lawrence County area. She also left this quote ” If you haven’t come by, called or sent a card, don’t bother now, I am not here.”
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was also preceded in death by a son, Raymond Reed; a daughter, Tammie Sue Reed; two brothers, Ray Morrison and Lester Morrison; two sisters, Mable Waugh and Bethel Campbell; a son-in-law, Delmer Ray; and a granddaughter, Julie Reed.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Ray of Morehead, Ky.; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Joan Reed of Ypsilanti, Mich.; three brothers, Floyd Morrison and Frankie Morrison, both of Culloden, W.Va., and Lloyd Morrison of Ona, W.Va.; five sisters, Mildred Waugh, Emmalene Hanshaw, and Mary Arthurs, all of Culloden, W.Va., Sybella Yates of Milton, W.Va., and Gladys Long of Apple Grove, W.Va.; eight grandchildren, Angela, Tina, Rhonda, Andrea, Jason, Brandon, Steven and Tammie; 12 great grandchildren, Michael, Matt, Adam, Heather, Sara, Kasey, Heaven, Julie, Joseph, Paul, Alexandria and Aleigha; 10 great great grandchildren, Leah, Domminick, Ciara, Raymond, Braelynne, Marcus, Carter, Tristen, Joey and Lillie Mae.
Funeral service was 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Lenny Campbell officiating. Burial followed in Bald Knob Cemetery.
