It’s rebuilding from the ground floor.

Andi Kratzenberg had 18 points, Shannon Walker 13, Sarah Linn 8 and Colleen Walker 6 to lead the offense. Nikki Elswick — the only returning starter — had 15 kills while Haley Snyder had 8 kills and Linn 4.

Colleen Walker handed out 32 assists.

Katie Hacker scored 11 points and Sarah Neal 9 to pace St. Joseph.

Ironton lost setter Brea Tackett, front line hitters Janie Morris and Lorna Ceaser, and defensive specialists Lindsey Ferguson, Autumn Markel and Carie and Cortney Rister.

“We are young and our season is just now beginning,” said Ironton coach Beth Campbell. “Nikki is the only one who played every rotation last year. We will see how we are in a couple of weeks.

“Volleyball is such a quick sport season only lasting six weeks. It’s hard having four games a week and finding time for practice.”

Ironton plays at Fairland in a 5 p.m. match on Tuesday.
