Sometimes no matter how hard you try, things just aren’t meant to be.

It wasn’t meant to happen for the St. Joseph Flyers Thursday as they lost a hard-fought 3-2 soccer game to the visiting Point Pleasant (W.Va.) Black Knights.

“It was a frustrating game,” said Flyers’ coach Dan Blair. “We played well on both sides of the pitch. We had our chances, but it was just one of those games where the breaks never happened.”

Tanner Riley and Joseph Payton scored the St. Joseph goals while Nathan Hannum, Preston Rairden, and Parker Hill had one each for the Black Knights.

“Both teams played a very physical and intense game,” said coach Blair.
