W.Va. Book Festival this weekend

The 10th annual West Virginia Book Festival will be at the Charleston Civic Center on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. and on Sunday beginning at 12:30 p.m., offering speakers, seminars, activities for children and new and used books for sale. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

Most notable on the program schedule are appearances by author Nicholas Sparks on Saturday at 2:30 p.m., where he will be reading and answering questions as well as signing autographs of his newest release, “Safe Haven,” and author Diana Gabaldon, who is most widely known for her Outlander novel series, will be speaking on Sunday at 2 p.m.

In addition, there will be 15 other authors, as well as appraisals of antique books, activities for teens and trick-or-treating for children visiting most of the booths in Halloween costumes.
