IRONTON – Helen Elizabeth Friend, 68, of Ironton, passed away Friday, Oct. 15, 2010 at her residence. The Wheelersburg native was born April 18, 1942, the daughter of the late Clyde and Mary Nelson Justice. She is preceded in death by her husband, Troy Friend, who passed away Nov. 22, 2001.

Mrs. Friend attended Brookside Schools in Loraine was a homemaker, and was of the Protestant faith.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a son, Jack Justice; and a sister, Charlotte Justice.

She is survived by four daughters and a son-in-law, Joann Justice of Pedro, Bonnie Friend of Pedro, Mary Friend of Ironton, and Ramona Slone and her husband Jay of Ironton; five sons and daughters-in-law, James Friend and Maria Conley of Pedro, Troy Jr. and Betty Friend of Pedro, Charles and Terry Friend of Coal Grove, John and Becky Friend of Ironton, and Larry and Jennifer Friend of Ironton; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Janice Justice of Vermillion; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Cathy and James Friend of Pedro, Jean and Curtis Friend of Ironton and Nancy Johnson of Dill, W.Va.; a special sister-in-law, Minnie French of Pedro; ten grandchildren: Stephen Bowman, David Jenkins Jr., Austin Friend, Hailey Friend, Jack Friend, Austin Conley, Ashley Friend, Bradley Friend, Shelbie Wright, and Kayla Wright; one great grandchild, Allie Bostic Bowman.

The Friend family would like to give a special thanks to Mommy’s adopted children of Patriot Ambulance Service and the employees of King’s Daughters Medical Center.

Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, at Vernon Furnace Cemetery with Pastor David Heaver officiating.
