It’s a busy week of informative and entertaining programs for adults, teens and children at the five Briggs Lawrence County Public Library branches this week. Call or visit your local Briggs Library to sign up or for details.

Have you ever wanted to fill in the leaves on your family tree? It’s easy with resources available on the Internet. Briggs Library’s adult services librarian, Lori Shafer, will teach you how to make the most of your computer genealogy skills at two workshops this week. Ms. Shafer will teach the workshop, “Finding Your Ancestors on Ancestry.com” at the Chesapeake library at 6 p.m. Tuesday. You may also want to register for “Genealogy and the Internet”, scheduled at the Proctorville library at 10:30 a.m. Friday. A free booklet with additional tips and reminders will be given out at each workshop.

Caregivers often neglect themselves while caring for their seriously ill loved ones. Anyone who is currently a caregiver or who anticipates becoming one is invited to learn tips on staying healthy and coping strategies at the free program, “Caring for the Caregiver,” presented by a representative from Hospice of Huntington at the Chesapeake library at 2 p.m. Monday.

Bring at least two pieces of costume jewelry in good condition to swap with other participants and listen to a short presentation by Connie Freeman about antique jewelry.

A continuation of the Basic Computer Skills workshop will be offered at the South Point library Friday at 10:30 a.m. Space is limited so please register for the Intermediate Computer Skills workshop in advance.

Teens in grades six through 12 are invited to make a “Bleach-Tastic Fashion” statement at a craft workshop at four Briggs Library branches this week. Please bring a bleachable garment such as a 100 percent cotton dark colored t-shirt for bleach stenciling fun (and wear old clothes).
