ASHLAND, Ky. — Robert Sherman Sutton, 72 of Ashland, formerly of Ironton, passed away Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, at the Cleveland Clinic. Mr. Sutton attended Ironton Schools, was a graduate of Rock Hill Schools and retired from Ashland Oil Inc.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert C. and Faye Sutton; and  his sister Mary Jane Richendollar.

He is survived by one daughter, Lisa and Melvin Cox of Tallahassee, Fla.;  two sons, Stephen C. Sutton and Jennifer Willen of Walnut Creek, Calif. and Phillip S. and Christina Sutton of  Suwanee, Ga.; and six grandchildren, Sara Cox, Austin Cox, Haley Sutton, Nathan Sutton, Sophia Sutton and Peter Sutton.

In addition to his children and grandchildren, survivors include one sister, Marta Ramey, two brothers, Richard and Nancy Sutton and Thomas and Cathy Sutton, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday the First United Methodist Church of Ashland, 1811 Carter Ave., Ashland. Friends may call 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Tuesday at the church.
