ANDERSON, IND. — Brea Tackett walked off the high school court and didn’t miss a dribble as she stepped onto the college floor.
In her first collegiate game for the Capital Crusaders, Tackett led the team with 15 points including 5-of-6 from 3-point range in a 73-64 loss to Thomas More in the Anderson University Tip-Off Tournament Friday.
The 5-foot-2 freshman point guard came back on Saturday to lead Capital with 12 points as she hit 4-of-5 field goal attempts including 3-of-4 from behind the arc and sparked a 74-49 rout of Robert Morris University.
Sparked by Tackett’s shooting, Capital went from making 38.5 percent of their shots on Friday to hitting 50.9 of their shots against Robert Morris including 65.5 percent in the first half.
Tackett’s performance earned her all-tournament honors.
The former Ironton All-Ohio guard helped the Lady Fighting Tigers reach the state tournament last spring.
Capital returns to the court on Tuesday at Wittenberg. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
