PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth Little Theatre will be presenting the holiday show “It’s a Wonderful Life — Live Radio Play.”

It is inspired by the classic American film by Frank Capra. Directed by Michael Stapleton and assisted by Melanie Manchester, this show is a delightful way to begin the holiday season.

Set in the late 1940s radio studio with actors portraying actors, the audience gets the full experience of what it was like to be part of the audience of a radio play back in the day. And, of course, there’s nothing like the tinkling of the bell (when an angel gets wings) to get everyone in the mood for the holidays.

The show stars Dr. John Kasper as “George Bailey,” Mark Near as “Clarence Oddbody,” and Jim Hayes as the infamous “Mr. Potter.” They are supported by a talented cast of seven others taking on the roles of 63 different parts.

Performances will be at the Portsmouth Little Theatre on Lawson Street (between East and Westbound U.S 52 near Rally’s restaurant) at. 7:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday, Dec. 10 and Dec. 11. There will be matinee performances on Dec. 5 and 12 at 2 p.m.
