Redwomen roll past Defenders; Lady Panthers top Blue Angels

For the third straight game, the Rock Hill Redwomen scored more than 50 points as they remained unbeaten with a 63-42 win over the Ohio Valley Christian Lady Defenders Monday.

“We did a pretty good job offensively,” said Rock Hill coach Alvin Carpenter. “We did a good job hitting the boards tonight. We’re starting to step up our rebounding.”

Leading the scoring and rebounding were Brittany Thompson and Tommi Butler. Thompson had 10 points and 14 rebounds while Butler had 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Chelsea Harper had a strong all-around game with 11 points, five assists and five steals. Dani Crabtree grabbed 11 rebounds while Courtney Duncan had nine steals and four assists.

Tommi Butler scored eight points in the first quarter as Rock Hill took a 14-5 lead.

Thompson came back to score eight points of her own in the second quarter and the lead grew to 40-13.

Harper had eight points to start the third quarter and Carpenter pulled his starters and the Redwomen continued to pull away.

Madison Crank scored 17 points and Beth Martin 10 to pace Ohio Valley Christian (1-2).

CHESAPEAKE — It’s not how you start but how you finish.

The Chesapeake Lady Panthers started the game with just four points in the first quarter. But they finally got jump started in the second quarter and rallied for 50-39 win over the Gallipolis Blue Angels Monday.

Chesapeake (1-1) came back to take an 18-13 lead at the half and built a 38-27 lead after three quarters.

Amanda Ruffner had 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Lady Panthers. Kristen Webb and Sarah Mayo scored eight points each and Mackenzie Moore had 10 rebounds.

Morgan Daniels led Gallipolis (0-2) with 21 points.
