River Valley rallied in the second half to beat the foul-plagued Redwomen 66-51 Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

River Valley converted 27 of 47 from the foul line and Rock Hill was just 10 of 15 at the line.

The Redwomen were whistled for fouls 36 times as they lost their four starters while the Lady Raiders were called for 17 fouls.

Chelsea Harper had 19 points and Courtney Duncan 11 to lead the Redwomen (3-1, 0-1).

Cady Gilmore scored 20 points — 17 in the second half — and the 6-foot Brooke Marcum had 18 points and 29 rebounds for the Lady Raiders (2-1, 0-1).

“The first half we played as well as we could play,” said Rock Hill coach Alvin Carpenter.

“In the second half, we started losing the only three big kids we had and that forced us to put girls on Marcum who were a foot shorter or more.”

Duncan had seven points and Tommi Butler six in the first quarter as Rock Hill built a 21-11 lead.

Nicole Stamper scored all nine of her points in the second quarter on 3-pointers as the Redwomen went in front 35-23 at the half.

Gilmore got 10 points in the third quarter as River Valley came back to tie the game at 44. Harper scored seven of Rock Hill’s nine points in the quarter.

“We had some young kids in the game and they got caught out of position in the transition,” said Carpenter.

Gilmore had seven more points in the fourth quarter to match Rock Hill’s total as the Lady Raiders pulled away to the win.
