PROCTORVILLE — With the South Point Lady Pointers it’s just a matter of time.

Fairland stayed close for a half, but the Lady Pointers went on a series of runs and pulled away in the second half to a 71-49 Ohio Valley Conference win Thursday over the Lady Dragons.

“South Point is a team of runs. We played it close and then they would go on a run,” said Fairland coach Jon Buchanan. “We played pretty well, but they’re just a good team.”

Kayla Fletcher and Jalynn Bradburn scored 22 points each as the Lady Pointers remained unbeaten in five games including 1-0 in the OVC.

Allison Mitchell added 16 points for the Lady Pointers who shot 46 percent for the game. Kimmie Bennett grabbed 11 rebounds and Bradburn pulled down seven.

Chandler Fulks scored 15 points and Katie Fuller had 12 for the Lady Dragons (1-3, 0-1).

Bradburn had seven points in the first quarter as South Point went up 19-13. Fulks hit a 3-pointer and scored five points to keep Fairland close.

The Lady Dragons shot just 20 percent from the field in the second quarter and fell behind 32-21 at the break.

Bradburn came back to score 11 points in the third quarter as South Point hit 12 of 16 field goal attempts and broke the game open by taking a 58-32 lead.

“We had a bad third quarter and they shot 75 percent. That’s hard to overcome, especially against a team as good as South Point,” said Buchanan.
