Thelma Irene Sprouse

Thelma Irene Sprouse, 83, of Ironton, passed away peacefully at her residence Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010. The Hitchins, Ky. native was born May 1, 1927, the daughter of the late Charles and Christina Fraley Horner. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, George Munion and Donald Sprouse.

Mrs. Sprouse attended Green Township High School and was a homemaker. She also attended Ohio Furnace Enterprise Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was also preceded in death by an infant son: Roger D. Thompson; son, Jeffrey Allan Munion; son, Gary Bruce Thompson; daughter, Debra Sue Munion Keller; three sisters, Betty Ruth Horner, Bertha Brown, Cora Horn;

two brothers, David Horner and Homer Horner; and a special friend, Ray Godby.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, George and Carrie Munion of Ironton; a son and daughter-in-law, Monte C. and Rosetta Thompson of Ironton; four brothers and two sisters-in-law: Clarence and Joy Horner, Jerry and Edna Horner, Paul Horner, and Charles Horner Jr all of Ironton; a daughter: Sharon K. Thompson of Ironton; a special granddaughter and her namesake and special caretaker, Heather Irene Thompson and her fiance’, William Anthony Howelll; 15 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh Street, Ironton, with Rev. Gary Arthurs officiating. Burial will follow in Buckeye Cemetery.
