Man gets three and a half years for CCS violation

A Proctorville man was sentenced Wednesday to more than three years in prison for failing to report for his community-controlled sanctions.

Michael A. Zundel, 21, of 53 Township Road 1272, admitted the CCS violation in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

He had not reported to adult probation since March.

Judge D. Scott Bowling sentenced Zundel to three and a half years in prison, which is the remaining balance of the sentence that had been reserved for him when he was placed on community-controlled sanctions.

In other cases:

Jerri Blake, 36, of 8470 County Road 1, South Point, pleaded not guilty to second-degree burglary. Bowling set bond at $25,000 on her own recognizance and $25,000 cash or surety and scheduled a pretrial for Jan. 5.

Brandon K. Staten, 25, of 69 Wood Ave., Jackson, pleaded guilty to theft and misdemeanor criminal trespassing. Staten was convicted of taking merchandise including 24 video games from Walmart. The criminal trespassing charge stems from Staten having been ordered to stay out of Walmart prior to the theft, Assistant Prosecutor Mack Anderson said.

Bowling sentenced Staten to eight months in jail with credit for time served.
