Huntington man arrested in slaying of ex-Wayne H.S. football coach

WAYNE, W.Va. — A Huntington man has been arrested in the slaying of a former high school coach.

State Police say 52-year-old Clinton D. Skeens was arrested on a first-degree murder charge in the stabbing death of Scott Jarrell. The incident occurred Friday at Jarrell’s home in Wayne.

State Police say the investigation is continuing.

Skeens was being held without bond at the Western Regional Jail. Jail records didn’t indicate whether Skeens had an attorney.

The Herald-Dispatch reports Jarrell was the head football coach at Wayne High School from 1966 to 1983. He had an overall record of 102-73-3. He also coached basketball, track and cross country before leaving in 1984.
