SOUTH POINT — Wendell Miller, 73, of South Point, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, at a local health care center. The Paintsville, Ky., native was born May 30, 1937, the son of the late Herschel Miller and Josephine Spradlin Diamond. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 42 years Phyllis Ann Miller, who died Aug. 9, 1997.

Mr. Miller attended school in Louisa, Ky., and was a former mechanic/truck driver for the McSweeney Mill and Mines Company.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sons, Michael Joe Miller, Ray Miller, and Chuck Miller; and a sister, Linda Stacy.

He is survived by two daughters, Debbie Miller and Janice Miller, both of South Point; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Glen and Donna Miller of Coal Grove and Michael Miller of Catlettsburg, Ky.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Tom Church of Greenup, Ky., and Cathy and Gary Whitley of Proctorville; a stepsister, Phyllis Diamond of Ashland, Ky.; a stepbrother: Charles and Cookie Diamond of South Shore, Ky.; four grandchildren, Crystal Miller of Coal Grove, Jennifer Lynch of Kitts Hill, Mark Allen Miller of Coal Grove and Amanda McKee of Catlettsburg; and a great granddaughter, Alexandria Miller of Coal Grove.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Pat Burnett officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
