FRANLIN FURANCE — The St. Joseph Flyers didn’t have many mistakes, they just came at the wrong time.

The Flyers had only seven turnovers but two came in the fourth quarter as the Green Bobcats posted a 57-52 win Saturday.

The Flyers trailed most of the game but came back to take a 4-point lead in the fourth quarter. But two costly turnovers and some missed shots enabled Green to rally for the win.

“They hit some big shots and did some things at the end and we didn’t,” said Flyers’ coach Jeremy Williams. “We had our chances. We had the momentum but we made some turnovers that let them back in the game.”

T.J. McCloud had 25 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Bobcats (8-3). Pat Pierce had 16 points and seven rebounds while Cody Bruce added 13 points.

The Flyers (7-6) were led by Cody Blackburn with 13 points. Justin Mahlmeister had 12 points, 14 rebounds and two blocked shots. Tanner Riley got seven rebounds.

“Cody played his best game of the year but we just didn’t shoot the ball well as a team,” said Williams.

Bruce had seven points and Pierce six in the first quarter as Green took a 17-10 lead.

McCloud scored six in the second quarter as Green extended its lead to 27-19 at the half. T.J. Young scored seven of his nine points in the quarter for the Flyers.

McCloud and Pierce combined for 11 points in the third quarter to offset seven points by Mahlmeister as Green’s lead was now 40-31.

Blackburn scored 11 of his points in the fourth quarter and Payton Blair had six more as the Flyers battled back to take the lead, but McCloud scored nine points as Green managed to regain the lead and hold on for the win.
