SOUTH POINT – Mrs. Esther Ruth Jones Irby, 84, of South Point, widow of Elmer A. Irby, Jr., passed away Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. today at Chapman’s Mortuary, with Rev. Brad Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, South Point. She was born Oct. 3, 1926, at Potters, Ky., a daughter of the late James Elaxander and Ollie Jane Caines Jones. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica Irby. She was a 60-year member of Louisa Chapter 292 OES, Coal Grove Memorial United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and Christian Women’s Club. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne and Merle Toumey of Tucson, Ariz. and Leigh and Wally Christian of South Point; two sons, Mike Irby of South Point and Al Irby of Idaho; eight grandchildren, Michael Irby, Jaimie Naylor, Jim Christian, Jennifer Christian, Jeremiah Sabin, Jacquelyn Toumey, Amanda Irby Holland and Ann Irby; and three great-grandchildren, Savanna Rhea Naylor, Landon Naylor and Regan Jiles.
