MINFORD — That burning smell was from the singed nets.

The Minford Falcons came out hot from the 3-point line as they made eight 3-point goals including four in the first quarter as they jumped in front and never looked back in beating the Rock Hill Redmen 63-35 Tuesday.

“They came out hot and it got away from us before we could even get settled,” said Rock Hill coach Bob Wilds.

“Once they got the lead we got away from what we do and no matter what we tried we couldn’t get it turned around.”

Rock Hill (6-10) didn’t help its cause. The Redmen were 14 of 48 from the field for 29 percent and they were only one of 9 from the 3-point line.

Mark Slone and Seth Lloyd each hit two 3-pointers in the first quarter as they combined for 14 of Minford’s total in the first quarter as they took a 16-6 lead.

Slone finished with 17 points and Brett Taylor 10 for Minford. Lloyd had nine points on three 3-pointers.

Andy Knipp had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Rock Hill. Mitchell Patterson added nine points while Shane Russell had four rebounds, two assists and three steals.

The Redmen host River Valley Wednesday in a make-up game and visit South Point Friday in Ohio Valley Conference games.
