SP girls win 4th straight OVC crown

SOUTH POINT — The South Point Lady Pointers’ seniors made it 4 for 4.

The Lady Pointers senior group won their fourth Ohio Valley Conference championship in as many season with a 71-35 win over the Rock Hill Redwomen Wednesday.

Seniors Kayla Fletcher and Jalynn Bradburn have been starters all four year and they celebrated senior night with 14 and 10 points, respectively.

Junior Allison Mitchell led South Point with 18 points and seniors Angelica Steward and Kimmie Bennett added 10 each.

The Lady Pointers —who have won seven league titles in eight years — are now 15-3 overall and 9-0 in the conference. They try to go unbeaten in the league Thursday at River Valley.

Chelsea Harper scored nine points and Tommi Butler seven to lead Rock Hill (5-14, 1-7).

The Lady Pointers raced to a 21-9 first quarter lead and doubled it up at the half by going up 42-18.

South Point pulled away to an insurmountable 56-20 lead.
