Karen L. Walde

Karen L. Walden, 65, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. The Waterloo native was born Feb. 8, 1946, the daughter of Lawrence and Louise Null Lambert. She is survived by her husband, Thomas A. Walden, whom she married Oct. 16, 1970.

Karen graduated honorarian with the class of 1964 from Symmes Valley High School and was a graduate of Ohio University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.

She was a retired elementary school teacher with the South Point School District, retiring in 1998 after 31 years of service. She was a member of the Waterloo United Methodist Church.  Karen was a very kind, loving person and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Chad A. Walden of Ironton; two grandchildren, Dylan and Oliver Walden; three sisters, Beverly and Wayne Shoemaker of Jackson, Cheryl Null of Hecla, and Bonnie and Joey Pemberton of Coal Grove,

and a brother, Mike Null of Waterloo.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sharon Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Canfield and Rev. Steve Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6-9 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, and Tuesday after 12 p.m. at the church.
