An Ironton man was killed in a car crash on County Road 21 late Sunday night.

Steven L. Bowman, 21, of 610 Township Road 179, died in the one-car accident, which occurred about one mile west of State Route 93 around 11:32 p.m., according to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The post’s preliminary investigation shows that Bowman’s black 1998 Dodge Avenger was heading westbound on County Road 21 when he lost control and slide off the road, striking a tree.

Bowman was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lawrence County Coroner’s Office. He was alone in the vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation.
