HANGING ROCK — Lydia “Jane” Jenkins, 75, of Hanging Rock, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. She was born Aug. 5, 1935, in Dayton, a daughter of the late Cecil Gibson and Mary Alice Holliday Wilson. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, William “Harrison” Jenkins.

Mrs. Jenkins was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and attended Shawnee State University for two years. She was a registered nurse for Lawrence County General Hospital for 25 years and a member of the Hanging Rock Apostolic Church of God. She was also a member of the Better Breathers Club and the Genealogy Society in Lawrence County.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence Wilson and Clyde Wilson.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Cheri Jenkins of Ironton; one daughter, Mary Ellen Porter of Ironton; 12 grandchildren: Tabitha Kidd, Adam Jenkins, Jared Jenkins, Bob Porter, Brandon Porter, Lydia Porter, Jonathan Jenkins, James Porter, Gloria Porter, Dennis Deere, Elizabeth “Beth” Deere, and James Deere; and 14 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be noon Thursday at Hanging Rock Apostolic Church of God with Elder Glenn Jenkins and Elder John Sturgill officiating. Burial will follow in Hanging Rock Cemetery and visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Hayes-Phillips Funeral Home.
