Stephen Lee Bowman, 21, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Feb. 28, 2011. The Ironton native was born July 8, 1989, the son of Rebecca “Becky” Sue Martin Friend.

Stephen was a 2008 graduate of Rock Hill High School and was a cashier at the Ashland, Ky. Speedway. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Troy and Helen Friend; and his maternal grandmother Mary Martin.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his dad, John Friend of Ironton; a daughter, Allison Leeann Bostic Bowman of Ironton; a brother, Austin Friend of Ironton; a sister, Hailey Friend of Ironton; four aunts, Mary Friend, Joann Justice, Bonnie Friend and Jenny Friend; five aunts and uncles, Wayne and Jennifer Friend, Troy and Betty Friend, Charlie and Terri Friend, Jim and Marie Friend, and Mona and Jay Slone; several cousins and special friends.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Hayes-Phillips Funeral Home with Brother Jack Pemberton officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Furnace Cemetery and visitation will be Thursday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
