COAL GROVE — Mr. Reuben L. Higgins, 94, of Coal Grove, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Ky. He was born Sept. 14, 1916, the son of the late Allen E. and Nora (Loftus) Higgins. He was a graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Coal Grove. He retired from Allied Chemical Semet Solvay after 44 years of service, and he was a 50-year member of the Ironton Mason Lodge #198. He loved woodworking and playing golf. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen Rust Higgins; a son Michael Allen Higgins; and two sisters: Alberta Gullion and Ella Nora (Nobie) Higgins.

Reuben is survived by one daughter, Linda (Tom) McKnight of Coal Grove; two sons, Greg (Carolyn) Higgins of Marietta, Ga. and Brent (Jenny) Higgins of Morehead, Ky.; seven grandchildren, Tomilynne (Todd) Blankenship and Kyle McKnight of Coal Grove, Shelli (Chris) Bauer of Lithia, Fla., Chris (Tami) Higgins of Canton, Ga., Stacy (Frank) Tremmel of Lakeland, Tenn., Karly Higgins of Clearfield, Ky. and Andy Higgins of North Carolina; 14 great grand children, Hollianne Swarts, Hannah Blankenship, Paige, Chase, and J.K. McKnight, Lindsey and Nicole Higgins, Megan, Cooper, and Cade Tremmel, Lukas and Eliot Reynolds, McKenzi and Marley Bauer; and a special niece, Becky (Tom) Shafer of Phoenix, Ariz.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home with the Pastor Brad Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
