Fairland student pens award-winning poem

PROCTORVILLE — Fairland West Elementary student Cait Kelley has written an award winning poem.
Cait is the daughter of Dennis and Christy Kelley of Proctorville.
Cait’s poem, “Close My Eyes” has advanced to the semi-final round of the National Amateur Poetry Competition sponsored by Eber & Wein Publishing.
The grand prize winner will receive a $2,000.00 cash prize among other prizes.
As a semi-finalist, Cait has earned the honor of being published in a volume of contemporary poetry called From a Window. The collection will be on sale at Amazon.com and at Barnes & Noble.
Cait is a fifth grade student in Ms. Fuller’s homeroom.
Ms. Fuller said, “Cait is a very creative writer, and good student. Cait has written twenty other poems, and is looking for further competitions.”
Cait is following in the footsteps of her mother, Christy who was a published author as a student.
Cait said, “My mother has encouraged me to develop my writing skills, and to publish my poems.”
