Museum opens for season

IRONTON — The Lawrence County Museum will open for the 2011 season today at 1 p.m. The museum, located at Sixth and Adams streets in Ironton, will be open weekends through the fall from 1 to 4 p.m. or by appointment.

Free Medicare reform seminar set for April 7

RUSSELL, Ky. — Morning Pointe Senior Care of Ridge in Russell, Ky. is teaming up with Bankers Life and Casualty Company to discuss medicare reform and how this will affect health care requirements for hospital stays, doctor visits, prescription use, home health care and long term care needs.

The free seminar, served with a light dinner is set to take place at Morning Pointe of Ridge on April 7. Reservations are required.

Ted Russell Kamp to play at Boomers

IRONTON — Singer/Songwriter, Ted Russell Kamp will be at Boomers in Ironton on April 9. Kamp is on tour to support his yet to be released new record “Get Back To The Land.” Kamp is Shooter Jennings’ longtime bass player and has released four solo albums to date. His last album, “Poor Man’s Paradise,” was named one of the top 100 Americana albums of 2008.

Boomers is located at 1123 S. Third St. Admission is $5.

ODOT releases travel report

A districtwide signalization project is under way, and contractors will be upgrading signals at selected locations in Lawrence and Ross counties as weather permits.

Traffic impacts should be minimal, and all traffic will be maintained at affected intersections when crews are at work. The scheduled completion date is June 10.

A districtwide auxiliary pavement marking project is scheduled to begin the week of April 4.

As weather permits, crews will be working along various routes in all District 9 counties. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in a rolling operation at all times. The scheduled completion date is June 15.

T.R. 1186 (Winfield Drive) is reduced to one lane for a bridge replacement project over Solida Creek, just south of U.S. 52. Throughout construction, traffic will be maintained in one lane with the use of temporary traffic signals. The scheduled completion date is October 31.
