Income tax filing deadline closes in

The deadline is Monday to file income taxes at the Ironton income tax department or to have taxes postmarked.

The office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and is located on the second floor of the Ironton City Center.

Residents may also put their taxes in a sealed envelope and place them in the utility bill drop box located outside the city center. The box is emptied every night.

Income tax forms can be found on the city’s website, http://ironton-ohio.com. Residents who don’t file their taxes will be subject to a $25 fine during the first 30 days after the deadline. The income tax department can be reached at 532-9241.

Lawrence Soil and Water Conservation District to host pond clinic

WILLOW WOOD — The Lawrence Soil and Water Conservation District will host a pond clinic on Tuesday at Symmes Valley High School (14778 SR 141, Willow Wood, OH 45696). We will have hot dogs, dessert and drinks at 5:30 p.m.

The program will begin at 6 p.m. The following topics will be covered: design and construction of a pond; fish selection and pond management; aquatic vegetation management; pond problems and fish kills; laws and liability associated with pond ownership. Guest speakers for the evening will be Mike Greenlee with ODNR – Division of Wildlife and Jim Rose with USDA – NRCS.

There will be time at the end of the program for questions and answers.
