Alden Moore

SOUTH POINT – Alden Ellis Moore, 83, of South Point, went home to be with his Savior on Friday, April 15, 2011 in St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, W.Va. He was born Jan. 27, 1928, in South Point, son of the late Leonard Alden and Margaret Hammonds Moore.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold E. Moore and Ralph E. Moore; and one sister, Patty J. Taylor.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years Vonna L. Moore who took great care of him both before and after their marriage; daughter Alda Sue Moore Wagner and her husband Allen B. Wagner of South Point; pawpaw’s girls and their husbands of which he was very proud, Amber A. Wagner Dillon and Robert W. Dillon of South Point, and Dr. Amanda S. Wagner Weatherhead and Eric J. Weatherhead of Fairborn; he will also be missed by his faithful dog Molly; sisters Joyce (Fred) Craft, Rita Smith, and Betty Mays; brother Jerry (Anne) Craft; sister-in-law Mildred Moore of South Point; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Milton and Pauline Delawder of East Liverpool; sister-in-law Georgeanna Delawder of Ironton, and many nieces and nephews.

He was a devoted member of Sunrise Nazarene Church for 50 years. He also had many brothers and sisters in Christ. He was an avid discipline of Christ and never hesitated to let you know his feelings for Jesus and never had a bad word to say about anyone. Alden served in the U.S. Army and retired from Houdaille Industries in Huntington, W.Va. Alden and his brother Harold farmed together for many years raising cattle and putting up hay. The last couple of years he was renewing his love for cattle with his granddaughter Amber. He developed a great friendship with his neighbor Tom Brooks who was instrumental in seeing his and Amber’s new cattle hobby start up.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, by Pastor Brian Malott. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. night at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville. Pallbearers will be Robert Dillon, Eric Weatherhead, Randy Smith, Tommy Smith, Wally Smith and Tom Brooks.
