Led by Andrea Kleinman’s home run, the Lady Pointers beat the River Valley Lady Raiders 4-2 Wednesday to stay unbeaten in the Ohio Valley Conference.

“We are definitely crushing the ball lately. I am glad to see different girls in our offense step up and give us some good hits,” said Lady Pointers’ coach Tara Layne.

“Andre Kleinman stepped up huge today by getting her first home run. She’s really been solid for us both behind the plate and hitting this season so far.”

South Point (10-1, 4-0) plays at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Rock Hill in a battle for first place in the OVC. Rock Hill is 5-0 in the league.

The Lady Pointers took a 3-0 lead in the first inning.

Kayla Fletcher singled, stole second, took third on a dropped third strike and scored on a bunch by Ashley Goodall. Kleinman followed with a two-run homer.

The lead went to 4-0 in the second when Brianna Whaley singled, stole second, took third on a ground out and came home on a wild pitch.

River Valley got two runs in the seventh inning.

Lenae Pence reached on an error, stole second and Libby Leach had an RBI single. Mary Waugh singled, Allison Porter hit into a fielder’s choice and Katelyn Birchfield singled in a run and put runners at second and third.

But Morgan Wells made a nice running catch in rightfield to end the game.
