PROCTORVILLE — Sashe Burcham didn’t have to do any extra work, but what she did was more than enough.

Pitching her first career no-hitter, Burcham faced the minimum of 12 batters as the Fairland Lady Dragons blanked the Coal Grove Lady Hornets 24-0 Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Burcham walked just one batter who was caught stealing.

The Lady Dragons combined 12 hits with 12 walks and three hit batsmen to generate their scoring.

Haley Woodall was 3-3 with a home run and three runs batted in to pace the offense.

Stormie Spitzer went 2-4 with three RBI, Chelsey Stanley was 1-4 with a double and two runs batted in, Chloe Stanley was 2-4 wih an RBI, Miranda Christian 1-4 and three RBIs, Taylor Devaney 1-1 and an RBI, and Amber Bias and Burcham 1-3 with an RBI.

On Tuesday, the Lady Dragons fell 6-3 to the Wayne Lady Pioneers.

“We couldn’t get a key hit. We’re still leaving too many runners on base,” said Fairland coach Joe Auxier.

Kayla Adams tripled in a run and Tasha Maynard had an RBI single as Wayne scored twice in the first inning. Adams singled a run home in the third and Wayne added antoher run in the fourth.

Fairland got a run in the fifth when Stormie Spitzer walked, moved up on a sacrifice and scored on Chelsey Stanley’s base hit.

The Lady Dragons got within 4-3 in the sixth when Burcham walked, Amber Bias was hit by a pitch, and Spitzer and Kerie Napier had RBI singles.
