Lady Vikings use errors to beat Western in SOC

AID — The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings took what Western gave them, and what they gave them was a 6-4 Southern Ohio Conference win Monday.

The Lady Vikings (3-6, 3-4) took advantage of nine Western errors to get the win.

The Lady Vikings got a run in the first inning when Carrie Brumbaugh and Kayla Ross reached on errors and Katie Hill and Beth Brown walked to force in a run.

Western took a 2-1 lead in the third, but Symmes Valley tied the game in the fourth.

Brumbaugh and Ross singled to start the inning, they moved up on a wild pitch and Hill grounded out as the run scored.

Symmes Valley scored twice in the fifth.

Brown was safe on an error and Tessa Wall reached on a throwing error putting runners at second and third. Kara Burcham hit into a fielder’s choice to score Brown and Wall scored on a wild pitch.

Two final runs scored in the sixth.

Ross doubled, moved up on a ground ball and came home on a hit by Brown. A wild pitch sent Brown to second and she scored on Wall’s base hit.

Symmes Valley visits Beaver Eastern Tuesday.
