Myers came on in the second inning and dominated the Western Indians as the Vikings rolled to a 16-6 Southern Ohio Conference win Monday.

Myers struck out 12, gave up just two hits and did not walk a batter.

“Cody came in and shut them down. He threw a heck of a game,” said Vikings’ coach Chad Renfroe.

The Vikings (9-6, 7-2) had 13 hits with Hunter Boggs, Nathan Dockery, Jacob Patterson, Alec Herrell and Myers getting two hits each.

Western got three runs in the top of the first but the Vikings got five in their half of the inning.

Myers singled, went to second on a balk and Dockery singled him home. Patterson doubled and Dillon Pelletier had an RBI single. Herrell singled in a run, stole second and Boggs singled in a run. Corey Brown reached on an error as a run scored.

Western scored three in the second to go up 6-5 but the Vikings tied the game on a home run by Luke Taylor.

The Vikings then erupted for eight runs in the third inning.

Alec Herrell singled, stole second and Boggs had an RBI double. Brown was safe on an error and Evan Herrell singled. Myers doubled, Dockery reached on an error for a run, Taylor walked and Patterson had a two-run single.

Pelletier hit into a fielder’s choice as a run scored.

The final two runs scored in the sixth.

Mitchell Corn was safe on an error, Evan Herrell and Myers walked and Dockery ended the game with a two-run single.
