Clyde R. Coyer

PEDRO — Clyde R. Coyer, 81, of Pedro, died on Friday May 6, 2011, in the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. He was born July 25,1929, in Lawrence County, the son of the late Clyde L. and Tina Pearl Richendollar Coyer. He was a member of First United Methodist Church Ironton and First United Methodist Choir and a graduate of Hanging Rock High School.

He served as an Army paratrooper in the Korean War and retired from Spriggs Distributing. He was scoutmaster for troop 109 Ironton and a Kentucky Colonel

Surviving by his wife of 58 years, Ruth Coonrod Coyer; one son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Tabitha Coyer of Ironton; two grandchildren, Mathew and Melanie Coyer; a sister and brother-in-law, Fern and Walter (Hopi) Hoptry of Ironton and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by three sisters, Joyce Coyer, Audrey Diamond and Gloria French.

In keeping with his request of cremation there will be a memorial service on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at O’Keefe Baker Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Young officiating.
