PROCTORVILLE — The Fairland Lady Dragons doubled their work but they doubled their fun as well.

The Lady Dragons played a doubleheader on Saturday against the River Valley Lady Raiders and came away with a pair of Ohio Valley Conference wins.

Fairland won both five-inning contests behind the pitching of Sashe Burcham who threw a two-hitter in a 6-0 first game win and then fashioned a four-hitter in a 7-1 nightcap victory.

The Lady Dragons jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning of game one.

Hayley Woodall, Amber Bias and Burcham all singled for a run and Chloe Stanley hit a sacrifice fly. Jaimie Phillips doubled and then Kerie Napier and Stormie Spitzer had RBI singles.

The lead went to 5-0 in the second on a single by Chelsey Stanley, an error and a passed ball.

Fairland’s final run scored in the fourth when Stanley singled, Woodall hit into a fielder’s choice and Burcham singled.

Burcham was 2-3 with two RBIs, Napier and Phillips were 2-2 and Stanley 2-3 as Fairland racked up 11 hits.

In the second game, River Valley took a 1-0 lead in the second but Fairland stormed back to win.

The Lady Dragons scored twice in the third inning to take the lead for good.

Brianna Yates walked, Chelsey Stanley put down a sacrifice, Woodall reached on an error for a run, Amber Bias singled in a run and Burcham was safe on a fielder’s choice as a run scored.

The lead went to 5-1 in the fourth inning.

Phillips singled, Napier was safe on an error, Spitzer and Yates had bunt singles to produce a run and Stanley singled home two.

Burcham and Chloe Stanley singled and scored on a single by Phillips in the fifth to complete the scoring.

Fairland hosts Portsmouth on Monday in the Division III sectional tournament.
