Southern Ohio Behavioral Health, a mental health practice in Ironton, has received national recognition for professional services to the community.

The firm was honored this week at the nation’s capital by Dorland Health, a division of Access Intelligence, when it was given the Case in Point Platinum Award for its case management services to residents in long-term care residents at the National Press Club in Washington, D.D.

Southern Ohio Behavioral Health was named a finalist in the competition earlier this year along with CHCS Services, Inc. of Pensacola, Fla., and San Simeon by the Sound Center located in New England.

The Platinum Award is only given to one organization each year in each of 25 categories of service.

Southern Ohio Behavioral Health was selected for the Platinum Award based on a review of its case management program and the recommendations from a large panel of judges appointed by Dorland Health. Dr. Mike Dowdy, Executive Director of Southern Ohio Behavioral stated, “This is a real honor to be given this national award. It is reflective of the hard work and dedication of our staff who serve others in our community. I am very proud of all of them.”

In addition to the Platinum Award, Southern Ohio Behavioral Health was also given an Honorable Mention Award for case management services in general behavioral health.

Dorland Health recognizes the most successful and innovative programs in case management across a variety of settings.

The Case in Point Platinum Awards represent some of the most forward-thinking initiatives taking place across case management and care coordination that are cost effective and able to produce definite positive results for the individual being served.

Southern Ohio Behavioral Health found itself in impressive company with other category award winners, including such organizations as IBM, Inspiris, Tampa, Florida General Hospital, Bellevue Hospital, New York City, Genex, Wellpoint and Indiana University Health.
